PAIR OF ITALIAN FUTURIST MIRRORS

A fine pair of early 20th century Futurist movement mirrors in carved mahogany timber, partially ebonised to accentuate the graphic form. The boldly contrasting three dimensional frames fitted with earlier, subtly-foxed silver plates. Original backs and hanging hardware, each frame with the makers initials BM to the reverse.

Italian Futurism was founded in 1909 and led by poet and art theorist Filippo Tommaso Marinetti. A radical, avant-garde artistic and social movement which looked to embrace technology and dynamism, moving away from traditional aesthetics and practices.
