Early 19th Century Primitive Shaker Cupboard
A charming, early 19th century Shaker cupboard, primitively constructed from pine timber. Retaining its original red wash to the exterior, the single door opens to reveal three shelves within, the interior with remnants of blue paintwork. Furniture like this would have historically been used within the home for the storage of preserves, typically known in the United States as ‘jelly cupboards’.
Pennsylvania, USA, c. 1820.
